The Board of Naturopathy adopted guidelines for naturopathic physicians regarding how telemedicine is “to be defined, supervised, regulated, and disciplined” that are accessible by clicking here.
These guidelines establish the standard of care expected for patient services provided in this manner. They do not address what a health plan may or may not pay for.
For third party (ie health plan) reimbursement information and coverage determinations, you will likely need to contact the health plan that you are contracted with directly. Ask for their telemedicine payment policy, benefits and eligibility for your patient in effect at the time you are providing service.
Also, be aware that there may be limits on your malpractice coverage if you are providing telemedicine services outside the state in which you are licensed. Check with your liability carrier for specific exclusions or coverage limits.
