This presentation will provide an in-depth discussion of Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections and their relation to women's health conditions. It will discuss the unique implications on women's health hormones, pelvic and urinary issues, adrenal function, fatigue, sleep, joint pain, anxiety, and depression. It will also cover the unique experience by women in accessing care based on provider's even greater bias towards women on complaints of pain, symptoms "being in their head", and their physical appearance. The presentation will also cover persistent, chronic Lyme disease that is experienced by women more frequently and dysregulation in immune function. Case studies will be provided and reviewed. Treatment will include appropriate testing for assessment and evaluation purposes and use of integrative medicine via herbal and nutritional supplementation to support Lyme disease and women’s health concerns.
Dr. Jaquel Patterson is a nationally recognized naturopathic physician, success coach for integrative doctors, best-selling author, and sought-after speaker. She is also a contributor to Forbes Magazine and member of the Forbes Business Council and Expert Panel. She owns a successful multidisciplinary medical practice including naturopathic medicine, nutrition, internal medicine, physical therapy, and acupuncture in Fairfield, CT. She has over 13 years of clinical experience with a focus on autoimmune conditions, Lyme disease, allergies, anxiety/depression, and childhood developmental disorders. She is also the Past President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and serves on the boards of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and the Connecticut Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
