(non-WANP) Offering: Health in the Climate Crisis – Integrative approaches for individuals and communities ~ Bastyr University
May 15 @ 9:00 am - May 16 @ 1:00 pm PDT
**The WANP is committed to promoting offerings related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism given that the lack of equity in our culture is a significant underlying cause of disease.**
Adverse health impacts of the climate crisis have already emerged and will continue to increase in frequency and severity. These health impacts are compounded by poverty and marginalization, disproportionately affecting communities of color and low-income populations.
Integrative health approaches and advocacy provide a framework for addressing the complexity of these impacts on the well-being of individuals, communities, and the environment.
This conference will educate and inspire community members, community-based organizations, as well as current and future practitioners on how to address the health effects of the climate crisis.
Sections include individual talks and panels on:
– Youth advocacy and well-being
– BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community advocacy
– Nutrition, equity, and food sovereignty
– Mental health
Presenters include: Senator Mona Das | Heather Price | Elizah DeMartini | Aji Piper | Adonis Piper Williams | Jamie Margolin | Ian Price | Emma Coopersmith | Nia Brice | Jacque Julien | Maria Batayola | Issac Emery | Mary Purdy | Teresa Turner | Fernanda Brusamolin | Daphene Altema-Johnson | Leslie Davenport | Hallie Love | Steve Wilson | Darrell Hillaire and Representatives from Lummi Nation
